Hailes are the Gala Champions!

The Forth Valley Junior League held the “A” and “B” Finals event on the 15 December. In a tight swim at the Whitburnpool, Hailes successfully held off incredible challenges from two much bigger clubs – Trojan (Whitburn and District), and Grangemouth – to become the Gala Champions.
The Final consisted of more than 39 events, separated into age and gender groups with relays, and a final Squadron swim of six swimmers from all age groups. This is the first time that Hailes has won the title, though we came close five years ago, winning the “B” Final.
What is more remarkable about this achievement, is the almost complete lack of swimming between June and November, due to school holidays and pool closures. The hard work of the coaching team, who are largely still at – or have just left – school is at the heart of this success. We are grateful to Edinburgh Leisure, who manage our access to the pools.
